Sara De Vita-Gussin, BCBA, LBA

Founder, Performance Coach

Sara began her professional journey at the age of 12, working alongside her family at Empire Point Boating Center (EPBC), a full-service marina on Long Island. As office manager for many years, she developed a deep understanding of small business operations, customer service, and leadership. It's no coincidence that her consulting firm, Empire Performance & Behavior Coaching (EPBC), shares the same initials—both represent her lifelong connection to performance, precision, and growth.

While her roots were in the family business, Sara found her true calling in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). After earning her master’s degree, she quickly rose into supervisory roles and became passionate about applying behavior science to the workplace. She began using the principles of Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) to increase staff efficacy, streamline quality control, and enhance employee engagement.

Over the years, Sara has helped organizations implement high-impact systems, coached leaders on behavior-analytic strategies, and guided business owners to identify and solve performance barriers that directly impact profitability.

Driven by her passion for helping others thrive, Sara launched a company rooted in empowerment—helping people "Lead with precision, perform with purpose, and build their empire."

Why Use a Behavior Analyst as a Performance Coach?

A Behavior Analyst brings a scientifically grounded, results-driven approach to performance coaching that traditional coaching models often lack. Instead of relying solely on motivation or subjective feedback, a behavior analyst uses data, proven behavioral principles, and measurable strategies to drive real, lasting change. Here’s why a behavior analyst is uniquely valuable:

  • Root Cause Analysis:
Rather than guessing at problems, a behavior analyst pinpoints the environmental, skill-based, or motivational factors truly impacting performance.

  • Evidence-Based Methods:
Every coaching strategy is backed by research in behavioral science — meaning it’s tested, effective, and individualized for each client or team.

  • Clear, Measurable Goals:
Behavior analysts break down vague objectives ("be a better leader") into specific, observable behaviors ("provide timely feedback within 24 hours"), making progress tangible and achievable.

  • Real Accountability Systems:
Coaching with a behavior analyst isn’t just talk — it includes goal tracking, reinforcement systems, feedback loops, and performance metrics that drive consistent improvement.

  • Customized, Data-Driven Coaching Plans:
Plans are tailored based on real assessment data, not one-size-fits-all templates, ensuring interventions fit the person, the team, and the business culture.

  • Sustainable Behavior Change:
The ultimate goal is lasting transformation — helping individuals and organizations build habits and systems that maintain high performance independently over time.
